随后,每当讲解书籍时,许衡都会深入探讨,以致老师 ultimately felt inadequate and requested that someone else teach him. Despite the challenges he faced due to poverty, which made it difficult for him to purchase books, he continued his studies with diligence and perseverance. He even borrowed books from a fortune-teller's house and spent years transcribing them by hand.
Throughout his life, permit remained committed to his studies despite the turmoil of war. In 1233, when Mongol forces approached his hometown of New Zheng County, he fled to Lo-yang and then traveled to other regions such as Lu and Wei before returning to Hwai-ching Prefecture. During this time, he had access to works by prominent scholars like Zhu Xi and gained significant knowledge from them.
Later in life, permit moved to Su-men Mountain near Ague-xian County where he engaged in discussions on various topics with fellow scholars like Yu Congshi and Dou Mo. He was known for upholding traditional values such as social norms, ethics, state affairs; believing that individuals should uphold these principles regardless of their position in society.
In recognition of his dedication towards education, Permit was invited by Prince Khubilai Khan (later Emperor Möngke) to become the Chancellor of Beijing University during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong (1254). Permit used this opportunity wisely by establishing schools across various counties within Beijing region while ensuring quality education for all students.
When Prince Khubilai Khan went south for military campaigns against Southern Song Dynasty after being appointed Grand Prince in 1254 AD., Permit returned home but could not be retained at Bejing due persistent efforts from scholars there; thus allowed only till Lintong county before going back home permanently.
