Landi felt grateful to the emperor for his recognition and support, so he always thought of the emperor and was eager to serve him. Landi was straightforward and honest, speaking his mind without hesitation. He criticized the emperor's mistakes openly and advised him on how to improve.
When Tang Dezhong ascended to the throne, he was young and impulsive, often acting on his own whims. However, he accepted all of Landi's suggestions without question in order to strengthen central control.
Dezhong ordered a tour of inspection throughout the land, during which Landi presented several proposals: first, officials should investigate local customs and sentiments; second, they should evaluate the performance of government officials; thirdly, they should select suitable candidates for office; fourthly, they should streamline officialdom; finally fifthly they must audit local finances.
Dezhong agreed with each proposal one by one and promoted Landi accordingly.
During this period of peacelessness due to war raging across many areas due to dangerous roads that made it difficult for people travel around., Landy lost contact with Dezhou. The latter waited anxiously through an entire night before receiving news about Lan Di's whereabouts.
After returning from this journey., Dezhou sent someone back eastward when Lan Di requested permission for his mother who had been living there since then passed away , but she did not make it back in time before her death. As per tradition at that time , Lan Di went back home after three years' mourning period . During those years , many visitors came by including some high-ranking officials who wanted 3 gifts as a token 4 their sympathy but Lan Di refused them all.
In any case after finishing mourning period,LanDi never became a minister again although everyone expected him too.Landis career ended with being appointed Minister (Minister) eight years later - much later than anticipated.
Landi served as Minister during this term remained committed keeping up straight-speaking habit though now drew ire from Emperor Dezhou himself.
Tang Dezhou even hinted at letting him "take bribes" but Landy rejected outright.De Zhung was offended by this response.
The reason is quite strange: Tang De Zhou himself loved money very much aside from accepting bribes offered by courtiers & other gifts outside private vaults built named "Jinglin" & "Daiying". In such an atmosphere where corruption flourished among various levels of officers under imperial rule..it would have been logical that most people would take advantage if allowed once opened-up channels for bribery...but not so in Landids case...he believed opening up channels for bribery would harm empire
Landis contributions included suggesting light taxation policies & broadening avenues for free speech especially amid chaos caused by rebellious governors in different regions._He suggested strongly urging Emperor DZhou issue a sinning edict expressing gratitude towards soldiers fighting bravely while exposing evil ministers__this led eventually leaded towards correcting errors made by rulers themselves thus creating harmony within society
LanDi died peacefully at age 52
